I am Going to the Doctor for My Check-up is a social narrative and like a social story it explains all the things the doctor does during a physical. Included in the book is a visual checklist that can be used during the physical. The doctor can circle what he/she will be doing on the checklist and the child can put an X in each box after it is done. Also included are stickers that can be printed on labels and used with a calendar to count down the days before the appointment, used during the appointment to reinforce each step of the check-up, and after the appointment to reward positive behavior. There is a celebratory story I Did a Great Job at My Doctor Check-up that can be read after the appointment.
